The Cabinet have approved proposals to extend lockdown powers until November.
It is understood that the Government agreed on the proposals as a failsafe measure with the current legislation set to expire in June.
The new regulations now means the Government will have the power to implement lockdowns if Covid-19 cases rise in the coming months.
It is believed that measures were originally expected to extended until September, however the Government agreed that a failsafe be chosen.
