Government gets roasted for their taxpayer-funded ad telling music audience to “Use social media to tell the world you’re having a great time #PILOTEVENT”

This weekend’s #pilotevent was meant to be a showcase for the FF-FG-GP Coalition government to show us that their vaccines and testing systems were working but the event has been roasted across social media.

A giant advertisement by the FF-FG-GP Coalition government was posted on the stage stating “USE SOCIAL MEDIA TO TELL THE WORLD YOU’RE HAVONG A GREAT TIME #PILOTEVENT”

The footer of the ad showed the Irish Harp and the official name of the government department that placed the ad.

The reaction to the ad has been very negative across social media.

Extra.ie reported “there was something off-putting about signs on the stage between shows that perhaps gave the wrong message by heavily encouraging audience members to tell their friends about how much fun they were having”.

A twitter user called Craig Hughes posted a pic of the ad saying” Meanwhile in North Korea…

Another twitter user @EwanMacKenna tweeted a pic of the advertisement writing “Paid for by your tax”

And @jk1701E tweeted “The Ministry of truth comes u to have a good time”

Then we see @paulmcguinness6 tweet “The leader is good, the leader is great. The leader is our friend. #pilotevent you can clap now

We have to wonder why the FF-FG-GP Coalition government felt they needed to run such an ad that is blatantly government propaganda in nature.
