Government is considering increasing Irish taxpayer’s money in giving more funding to Ukraine

The government plans to increase its financial support to Ukraine to help it defend itself against Russia, reports RTE.

Foreign Minister Micheál Martin briefed Cabinet on Ireland’s plans to increase its contribution from €271.8 million to €454.4 million.

The money would be spent between 2024 and 2027 and would be obtained through the European Peace Fund.

According to these proposals, the EU Aid Fund for Ukraine would amount to 20 billion euros.

A spokesman for the Tánaiste said that “In line with the Programme for Government, Ireland has constructively abstained on all lethal equipment elements of the previous EPF support packages for Ukraine”, reports RTE.
