The Coalition parties are set to discuss measures to deal with the spiraling cost of childcare in the country.
Children’s Minister James Reilly is understood to be creating a seven-department committee to tackle the issue. This committee would be due to report back by the summer.
Measures being considered include tax breaks and subsidies to families.
A report published last year by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) found that families with two children are spending up to 40% of their average wage to cover childcare.
Such level of outlay is the highest among all 34 OECD member states.
