Government’s plan to make people work longer before getting their pension are scrapped when Committee for Social Protection says no

The Government has been stopped in its controversial plans to raise the State Pension age and force people to work until 68 before qualifying for the pension.

According to Breaking News, an Oireachtas Committee has said no to this plan, insisting that people who have worked all their lives are entitled to get the pension at 66, particularly since many will be too old to work after that.

They also said that some people should be allowed to qualify for it at 65 if they had paid 40 years’ worth of contributions.
