Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin held a brief joint press conference Friday night after a summit in Alaska addressing the Russia-Ukraine war. Following a three-hour meeting, Trump called the talks “productive,” hinting at agreements but withholding specifics. Putin claimed a deal was reached, though details remained vague. No questions were allowed.
The summit, excluding Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy, sparked criticism from Kyiv and European allies. Trump suggested future talks with Zelenskyy. Social media noted Putin’s shorter stature at the podium, with Trump’s handshake seen as assertive.
The Russian President went on to say that the war would never have started had Donald Trump been President in 2022.
