Hammersmith Bridge in London has been closed until further notice, after authorities discovered ‘critical’ structure faults during routine checks.

The bridge is one of the main crossing points over the Thames, so its closure is expected to cause heavy disruption to local travel, with no less than six bus routes affected.
According to a statement by the local council, ‘immediate’ safety concerns prompted the urgent closure of the bridge.
