Harris says personnel changes will be made after he is criticised over National Children’s Hospital overspend

The Minister for Health Simon Harris has said there will be personnel changes in regards to the overall running of the new National Children’s Hospital.

Speaking to RTÉ News, Minister Harris said there needs to be accountability when it comes to the massive overspend.

The Health Minister’s comments came after it was revealed on Wednesday that the overall cost of the project could exceed €2bn.

Although Mr Harris claimed that the new facility will be world class, he did admit that the overspend was unacceptable and that the people deserved answers as how that happened.

Minister Harris’s comments were made in the aftermath of strong line questioning in the Dáil on Friday, with Independent TD Dr Michael Harty stating that the Health Minister himself should be held accountable.
