Agriculture Minister Dara Calleary has apologised for attending an event with more than 80 people that may have violated the new public health guidelines.
The Irish Examiner reported that Calleary was among the guests at an Oireachtas Golf Society event on Wednesday night at a hotel in Clifden, Co Galway.
The dinner was attended by 80 people, which were divided into two separate rooms but nonetheless many people on social media are now demanding that Calleary goes immediately.
Calleary posted on Twitter: “In light of the updated public health guidance this week I should not have attended the event.
“I wish to apologise unreservedly to the public, from whom we are asking quite a lot at this difficult time. I also offer this apology and my sincere regret to my Government colleagues.”
