Teacher Enock Burke will appear in court again today in relation to not calling a student, who says they’re transitioning, by their preferred pronoun of  “they”.

He’s currently being detained in prison over contempt of court where he refused to stay away from the school where he is teaching over a disciplinary issue.

As real criminals walk the streets, many of whom are out on bail and walking freely around the country, one teacher who stands over his Christian has been thrown back into Mountjoy Prison until at least Wednesday.

He’s taking a stand and many people on social media appear to be supporting him.

In what can only be described as truly shocking, a Westmeath teacher has been thrown into Mountjoy Prison for contempt of court over a row where he refuses to address a child he is teaching as “them”.

Speaking in court today, Enock Burke said that he will never go against his religious beliefs and opposes transgenderism.

He said that he had time to think about the case over the past two days while he was in Mountjoy and said that he did not think he did anything wrong. He said that he just opposes transgenderism and that he will never agree with it or the court’s decision to place him in prison.

Burke went on to say that given the choice, he would spend the next 100 years in Mountjoy prison rather than agree with transgenderism and will never call a boy a girl, reports the national broadcaster.

Burke said that he was in court for “refusing to call a boy a girl” and that addressing the child as “them” goes against his Christian beliefs, RTE reports.

The Judge gave the teacher time to consider whether he would continue going to school or stay away during the court case, to which he said that he would continue to go to school because that was his job.
