Authorities in China have sadly confirmed that an eight-year-old girl has died after an inflatable water slide collapsed at a theme park.
According to reports in China, the young girl was tragically crushed to death after the large slide collapsed at Fengda International Hot Spring Holiday Resort, at approximately 4pm on Saturday afternoon.
It is believed that the girl who was with her mother at the time of the incident was crushed when the top of the slide which had a number of people standing on top collapsed down on top of them.
The tragic incident which was recorded by onlookers also saw the girl’s distraught mother scream for help as her daughter lay unresponsive following the collapse.
Although authorities have yet to determine the cause of the collapse, they say they believe it may have occurred due to overcrowding.
Officers investigating the girl’s death say despite the best efforts of medical personnel, the young girl was sadly pronounced dead at Huangshan People’s Hospital a short time later.
They added that four other people were also taken to hospital after being injured during the collapse.
