John McMullen has no known relatives and died in Connolly Hospital, Dublin on Saturday.
It has been revealed that the only information available about the man is that he was born in September 1928, worked previously as a sailor and has links to Coleraine, Derry.
The elderly man had been a resident of Moyglare Nursing Home, Maynooth.
Both the nursing home in which the old man resided and Reilly’s Funeral Directors are searching for his next-of-kin as the old man has no one to attend his funeral.
The funeral is to take place on the 16th February at 10am in St Mary’s Church Maynooth, following by burial in Laraghbryan Cemetery.
