Heartbroken family of Ashling Murphy speak about how they are devastated at the loss of their “special girl”

In a heartrending interview with the Irish Independent, the family of have spoken to the Irish Independent about how they are trying to come to terms with the tragic loss of their beloved daughter.

According to the Irish Independent, the family are trying to imagine what life will be like without their daughter, who, at just 23 years old, had her whole life ahead of her and was very happy with her partner Ryan Casey.

Her mother Kathleen spoke about how Ashling would always say “Mam, I love you,” when she was leaving in the morning.

“She was just a special girl.   She’s the youngest, a little angel,” her father said.  “She was a brilliant girl in every sense of the word.”

He spoke about how his daughter was “a great worker”, and “a marvellous musician”, who crammed a huge amount into her short life.  “She played with Comhaltas Ceoltoiri all over Ireland and all over the UK on the tours.  She was in their youth choir and senior orchestra.”

Ashling’s family told the Irish Independent that she had a great love of music, and that her brother Raymond has played for the Furey Brothers and with the band Best Foot Forward. Her mother is also a talented musician.  She also loved sport and played hurling and camogie since she was a child.

The family spoke about how Ashling was loved and admired as a teacher in Durrow National School where she taught first-class pupils.  The children in the school have set up a shrine at the school gates.

They spoke about how Ashling will be missed so much by the community and everyone who knew her.
