In a tragic case in the UK a woman has had to deal with the death of her puppy who had to be put down after suffering heatstroke in a groomers salon.

According to the Mirror, 37-year-old Lisa O’Neill was devastated when her cockapoo Harry suffered serious injuries when he put into a “drying cage” at the groomers.

Harry suffered a collapsed intestine after being put into the cage to dry off after being washed at the groomers. When he collapsed at the salon, Ms. O’Neill had no option but to bring him to a vet in Glasgow where they tried to help him.

They couldn’t save the puppy however but found that he was suffering from heatstroke and intussusception which happens when intestines go into themselves.

There was nothing the vets could do and Ms. O’Neill had to sit with Harry while he was being put down.

Ms O’Neill spoke about how the loss of Harry devastated her, speaking about how a dog is a member of the family and how traumatised her to think about how her pet had suffered before he died.

She has now launched a petition to get regulations put in place by the Scottish Government and it has now gained 1000s of signatures.  She pointed out that while most no people didn’t know anything about a “drying cage”, salons like the one she used are award winning with excellent reputations.

The SSPCA confirmed that Harry’s death could not be clinically attributed to the salon but nonetheless supported calls for regulations.
