It was a hectic start of the year at Dublin Airport, as two transatlantic flights experienced technical difficulties, one in mid flight and one on the ground.

Delta Airlines flight DL-63 was en route from Boston to Heathrow Airport when the crew reported a problem with the aircraft’s navigation system. The captain chose to divert to Dublin, and they touched down safety at 5.37am.

The flight was able to resume its journey to Heathrow shortly after 11am.

On a separate incident an Etihad Airways flight bound for the United Arab Emirates was forced to abort its take-off run after detecting an unspecified technical issue. The jet returned to the terminal, and resumed its journey just before 1pm.
