Meta Platforms has restored former US President Donald Trump’s access to Facebook and Instagram, Meta spokesman Andy Stone confirmed after a two-year suspension following the deadly uprising on Capitol Hill on Jan. 6, 2021.
Meta said in January it would lift Trump’s suspension “in the coming weeks” and impose penalties greater than a suspension of between one month and two years if the former president violates his content guidelines again, reports RTE.
Mr. Trump will now regain access to key platforms for political outreach and fundraising ahead of his run for the White House in 2024.
As of January, he had 23 million followers on Instagram and 34 million on Facebook.
