Ryan Tubridy, a former presenter at RTÉ, began his new weekday radio show this morning.

He expressed his eagerness to start the show, saying he was “chomping at the bit”, reports RTE.

The show airs from 10am to 1pm on Virgin Radio UK, and it is simulcast in Ireland on a channel that has not been specified yet.

Tubridy had announced his move to Virgin Radio in November after his permanent departure from RTÉ in August.

He had left RTÉ due to a payments scandal that caused significant financial and reputational damage to the broadcaster, reports RTE.

This led to a programme of cuts and voluntary redundancies at the station.

Other well-known broadcasters at Virgin Radio include Chris Evans, Graham Norton and Leigh Francis.

Tubridy began his show by stating that he had “so much to do and so much to say”.

He then played two songs: U2’s Pride (In the Name of Love) and the Backstreet Boys’ I Want It That Way, reports RTE.
