Holidaymakers heading to Spain or Portugal over the next few days are being warned of true heatwave conditions, with temperatures reaching almost 45C at times.
The extreme heat is caused by a mass of hot air from Africa moving across the area.
Very high temperatures are not unusual in Spain or Portugal during the peak summer months, but they are very unusual this early in the year.
