Holohan: A decision on easing restrictions on May 5th is down to the wire but looks unlikely

It appears now more than ever that the government are going to extend the lockdown restriction measures for at least a fortnight.

The Chief Medical officer Dr Tony Holohan has said that a decision on lifting restrictions on May 5th is down to the wire.

Speaking during the National Public Health Emergency Team press briefing, Dr Holohan said that no decision has yet been made and any lifting of restrictions depends on the reduction in cases and the number of people being admitted to intensive care.

Dr Holohan said that the situation will be continued over the coming days ahead and any decision will be made by National Public Health Emergency Team on Friday.

The chief medical officer’s comments come after a further 376 cases and 31 deaths were confirmed on Monday.
