Ireland’s Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has said that people need to follow his rules immediately and double down on everything that NPHET has said over the past number of weeks in order to get on top of the Delta variant.
It’s understood that roughly 5,000 cases a day as mostly made up of that of the Delta variant with the CMO said to be very concerned that further restrictions may need to be enforced down the road if things continue to detoriate.
Holohan said that his focus remains on the Delta variant because the numbers remain very hight. He’ll be meeting with the government later today to decide what whether any further restrictions need to be implemented at this time.
