A major search operation is underway in South Florida after a woman was apparently dragged into a pond by an alligator.
According to reports in the US, the woman who was walking with her dogs at the Silver Lakes Rotary Nature Park, which is located near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Miami.
It is believed that an eyewitness seen the large alligator drag the woman under water at approximately 9:45am on Friday morning.
Officers investigating the incident say they received a call alerting them to the incident and upon their arrival they found the two dogs standing by the pond and refusing to leave.
It is also reported that one of the dogs was bitten by the alligator in the terrifying attack.
However thankfully both dogs were taken to a nearby animal rescue shelter and they are both said to be doing fine.
Police authorities say a wide scale seach of the area is being carried out in the hope that they can locate the woman.
