The housing crisis is set to deepen rather quickly, as average rents are soaring countrywide.
New figures revealed today show that the average monthly rent has now exceeded €1,000 for the first time since 2008.
Rents continue to rise due an increasing scarcity of supply for the rental market.
According to property website Daft.ie, just over 3,000 units were available for rent on May 1. This is the lowest number ever on record, and it’s in stark contrast with the 23,000 available in the same period back in 2009.
