HSE confirms that 3.4m vaccine doses have been administered

The head of the HSE Paul Reid has confirmed that over 3.4 million vaccine doses have been administered to date.

Speaking about the roll Reid said that 2.3 million have recieved their first whilst almost 1.2 million people have received their second dose.

Reid’s comments come as next week is set to be a busy week as in the region of 300,000 doses are to be administered.

However the HSE Chief warned that the numbers will be lower as the vaccine moves into the younger cohorts.

It is expected that Ireland will receive in the region of 200,000 doses per week from July as the vaccine is given to people aged in their 30s.
