This week has seen extremely high activity levels in some hospitals as a result of the persistently high rates of winter virus-related illnesses, reports Breaking News.
There were 483 patients on trolleys as of Tuesday at 8 a.m. (366 in emergency rooms and 117 in wards). There were 371 patients waiting to be released at midnight.
Hospitals under significant demand today include Cork University Hospital, Tallaght University Hospital, UH Limerick, Galway University Hospital, and Letterkenny University Hospital, even though several have handled the extremely high recent occurrence of winter viruses quite effectively.
According to the most recent data, influenza activity appears to have peaked, reports Breaking News.
