Hundreds of protesters have been arrested in Russia during demonstrations in support of Alexei Navalny, who was recently arrested after returning from abroad.
Navalny spent five months recuperating in Germany, following poisoning with the nerve agent Novichok. The poisoning is widely believed to have been ordered by high-ranking Kremlin officials.
Support for Navalny is gaining momentum across Russia. The Kremlin has deemed the protests ‘illegal.’
