“I am truly alone” the remorseful words of Sex and the City writer Candace Bushnell (60) who has said that she regrets choosing a career over children.

The multi-millionaire writer and former sex columnist said that she realised the mistake she had made after she divorced her husband ballet dancer Charles Askegard in 2012.

The author who penned the hit TV series and two later feature films “Sex and the City” features a protagonist who chooses her independence and career over settling down and having children.

Now however, Bushnell realises the emptiness of the feminist myth and says she rarely gets out of bed most days until the evening and then its only to eat or get Botox.

There is some light at the end of the tunnel for Bushnell who says she is in love with her new boyfriend real estate agent Jim Coleman and her new book “Is there still Sex in the City?” is being released in August.

More and more women are putting careers and independence ahead of family and are shunning their natural biological impulses, often due to the influenced of popular culture and fiction but reality is often a bitter pill to swallow for such women.
