UFC featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor has been offered a shot at a welterweight title after the manager of the current title holder, Kamaru Usman, offered ‘The Notorious’ the opportunity to fight for the belt this July 4th.
McGregor handily defeated Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at welterweight in his come back fight last January and now with talks between Usman and his potential competitor, Jorge Masvidal, falling apart the Dubliner may be set to get a shot and what could be his third belt in the UFC.
Adding to the speculation and excitement over a possible bout between the two fighters Usman tweeted:
“I really don’t understand why you all want this man DEAD!!!
I’d shag him in there if I wanted and he’d “DO NOTHIN” FOH.”
The tweet was met with some confusion as it appeared as if the Nigerian champion was threatening to rape the Irishman.
Usman’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz told TMZ that the only chance at a belt would be for McGregor to fight Usman as, Khabib Nurmagomedov, who Abdelaziz also manages is set to fight Justin Gaethje in unification bout for the lightweight title in September.
