In the event of a no-deal Brexit, drivers from the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland may need an International Driving Permit (IDP) to drive in the Republic of Ireland post-Brexit.
Hopefully that won’t happen but if there is a no-deal Brexit, there is a strong possibility that United Kingdom and Northern Ireland drivers would need a special driving licence so that they can drive in the European Union and EEA.
Having said that, the department of Transport in the UK has said that said that motorists from the Republic of Ireland will not need an IDP to drive in Northern Ireland or Britain after Brexit if a deal can be struck.
