Ill-disciplined Italian side help give England an easy win in Rome




A injury hit England were given a helping hand by an ill-disciplined Italy side as they claimed their first win of this year’s Six Nations Championship.

In a game that an under-par English side were expected to win, they did just that as an ill-disciplined Italian will be left analysing many costly errors that seen them easily beaten 46-15 in Rome.

England who went into the game carrying a number of injuries got off to the perfect start when Watson crossed over in the corner in the 4th minute.

The game seemed like it was going one way when Watson added a second on the 11th minute, however a determined Italy showed they weren’t going to be easily pushed aside when Benvenuti pulled a try back on the 20th minute.

The game which was evenly matched was turned on its head when a number of costly penalties seen Farrell add a third try for England.

The second half began with England claiming their bonus point when Simmonds scored the fourth on the 53rd minute.

A brave Italy were not done as Belleni scored five minutes later when he just managed to keep himself in play and touch down in the corner. That was as good as it got for the Italians as Eddie Jones’s men three more through Simmonds, Ford and Nowell.

The win now means England begin their defence in confident mood, although they will have to up their game in next Saturday’s crunch game with Wales.
