In what can only be described as incredible, a 44-yr-old Australian nurse managed to save his own life using DIY training after realising he was getting a heart attack.
He was on his own at a very remote health clinic in Coral Bay, more than 1,000 kilometers outside Perth when he realised he was having a heart attack.
He was around 100 miles from the nearest hospital so he managed to hook himself up to an electrocardiogram, which showed a complete heart block.
He then quickly emailed the results to a doctor who contacted an emergency physician who was able to talk him through what he needed to do via Facetime.

He inserted (IV) intravenous lines in his own arms and self-administered drugs including aspirin, blood thinners, painkillers and another druge that was for clot-dissolving called tenecteplase.
Thankfully his quick thinking worked and the heart attack subsided. He was flown to Perth the next day where he received a stent in the coronary artery that had grown blocked, and he went home two days later.
It’s understood he is now at home resting but will return to work in a number of weeks.
Experts said his extreme, do-it-yourself MacGyver-like approach would not be recommended for most people.
Good on ya, mate!
