The Garda Obudsman has confirmed that an internal investigation is being carried out after a Garda allegedly uploaded a video of woman being arrested on social media.
The serious investigation is being conducted after the woman in the footage took her life less than a month ago.
According to the Irish Sun the investigation is being carried after the Garda Obudsman received complaints after the video somehow managed to make its way online.
The paper also states that the footage which shows a naked woman being arrested on a busy Dublin street was apparently recorded by an duty garda officer at the time of the incident before was it uploaded to a private WhatsApp group. It is then believed that the video was subsequently shared on Facebook were it received over a 100,000 views before it was removed.
The woman involved was also reportedly detained under the mental health treatment act on April 7th, however she later took her own life on April 12th.
Meanwhile GSOC have said the Garda involved has since been suspended from duty with full pay whilst the investigation is ongoing.
