The Gardaí are looking into many social media profiles that they believe may be connected to a man who was detained for causing criminal damage to multiple State properties. The accounts feature photos and threats of violence, reports RTE.
After early morning rampage at the gates of Government Buildings, the Customs House, and Áras an Uachtaráin, a white transport vehicle was taken into custody.
In the heart of the city, gardaí detained and are questioning a man in his 40s.
His detention stems from driving violations, reports RTE.
Terrorism has been ruled out by the Gardaí.
Early in the morning, a series of assaults were launched against the President’s residence and government buildings.
Initially, the man entered Áras an Uachtaráin through the gates of his transport truck and departed. No effort was made to cross into the Áras.
While the vehicle was driving to the Customs House, where it just slightly damaged the gates, the local Gardaí issued an alert, reports RTE.
After then, it approached Merrion Street, the location of the Government Buildings.
It is possible to question the man for up to 24 hours.
During the occurrences, no one was hurt.
At the Pearse Street Garda Station, the Gardaí have established an incident room and designated a senior investigating officer.
Scenes have been kept intact for technical analysis.
