GardaĆ are investigating after a teenage boy and a man in his 40s were injured in a shooting in Limerick in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The pair sustained pellet wounds during the incident at Singland Park in Garryowen at around 2:35am.

Both males were taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

GardaĆ are examining a number of possible motives for the gun attack, including the theory that it is linked to a local dispute between rival groups.

A garda spokeswoman said gardaĆ and emergency services attended the scene following reports of a firearm being discharged at a residential location in Garryowen, Limerick, at approximately 2:35am on Thursday, 2nd April 2026.

The two males—a youth in his teens and a man in his 40s—were conveyed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

Investigations are ongoing.
