After the child attacked a guy in a Perth parking lot, Australian police stated they had shot him dead, calling the assault “indicative of terrorism,” reports RTE.

The 16-year-old, who was carrying a kitchen knife, showed indications of having been radicalised online, according to state officials, who also mentioned that they had received calls before to the incident from worried members of the local Muslim community.

Although the incident in the Willetton area late last night bore “hallmarks” of terrorism, authorities said it had not yet been labelled as such.

Regarding the attacker, Western Australia Premier Roger Cook stated during a televised news conference in Perth that “at this stage it appears that he acted solely and alone,” reports RTE.

According to the police commissioner, the “middle-aged” guy who had been stabbed was in a “serious” but stable state and seemed to be recovering well.

He stated the victim had been stabbed once, “possibly” in the space of two centimetres, which might have perforated a lung, reports RTE.

Anthony Albanese, the prime minister of Australia, stated that police and intelligence services had updated him on the event and told him there was no continuing threat.

“We are a peace-loving nation and there is no place for violent extremism in Australia,” Mr Albanese said on social media platform X, reports RTE.
