
An internal investigation is underway at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda, after it was revealed that a member of the public found documents and patient history belonging to 18 patients on a public street.
It is understood the investigation which has now been referred to the Data Protection Commissioner, comes after a member of the public discovered the files which contained patient details including phone numbers and dates of birth on a street outside the hospital.
The files which were handed into the HSE has now led to an investigation after the discovery was found to be in breach of hospital protocol and patient security.
