An investigation is currently under way into the circumstances surrounding the shocking death of a 43-year-old woman in Co Westmeath yesterday evening.
Gardaí have sealed off a house in the village of Ballinacarrigy following the discovery of the woman’s body at around 9.30pm and forensic examinations are ongoing on the property.
Her body has been removed to the Midlands Regional Hospital, Mullingar and a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out later today.
The mother of two teenage children was well-known in the area and local Fianna Fáil TD Robert Troy said the whole community was deeply shocked at the news of the her death.
