Wet and cold weather expected during the coming week

cold weather

The country has been blighted by heavy rainfall and strong winds over the last 72 hours, and though the wind has abated for now, the coming week will bring about more wet and miserable weather. And on top of that, the first cold snap of this winter is expected to hold Ireland in its grip by next weekend.

Tomorrow will start off reasonably dry on the west and north of Ireland, but a band of rain coming in from the south will soon spread eastwards throughout the day, and into tomorrow night.

Tuesday will be a rather miserable day, with wet and windy weather all around. This pattern will repeat itself on Wednesday.

Thursday will be the best of a bad lot, with some sunny spells and only a few isolated showers.

But Friday, and into the weekend, the winds will switch to a northerly direction, bringing cold air down our way. Daytime temperatures will plunge to single digits, with a marked risk of sharp ground frost forming during the night.
