“Ireland is fully behind Ukraine” – Zelensky dismisses Biden gaffe as he thanks Harris for Ireland’s support

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed US President Joe Biden’s blunder, wherein the latter misidentified him as “President Putin” when they were having a meeting with Taoiseach Simon Harris at Shannon Airport, reports RTE.

In the “coming weeks,” according to the Taoiseach, he will travel to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.

Following their bilateral discussion, Mr. Harris said that President Zelensky was “very eager” to address the Dáil and extended an invitation for him to make an official visit to Ireland.

During a news briefing, Mr. Harris stated that the two presidents talked about possible bilateral agreements in the areas of energy, food security, humanitarian relief, and demining.

“I’ve just had a very good meeting with President Zelensky. I’m very pleased to welcome him to Ireland,” reports RTE.

He added: “I took the opportunity to expresses condolences on behalf of the people of Ireland to the people of Ukraine, to the president of Ukraine, for all the loss of civilian life throughout this brutal illegal war of Russian aggression,” reports RTE.
