Ireland is safe, Minister McEntee? Foreigner arrested for alleged people smuggling at Dublin Airport remanded in custody




A South African woman arrested at Dublin Airport on trafficking charges has been remanded in custody, reports The Mirror.

Shamida Rania, 46, of no fixed address, appeared before Judge Monica Leach at Dublin District Court on Saturday.

He was charged under section 6 of the Criminal Justice (Smuggling of Persons) Act at Dublin Airport on December 8, 2023 with assisting another unnamed person to enter, transit or remain in the State unlawfully, reports The Mirror.

In evidence, Detective Inspector Karen Barker of the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) said she arrested the woman at Terminal 1 at 10.45am on Friday.

Ms Rania was detained under section four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a garda station in north Dublin, reports The Mirror.
