Ireland could soon be set to introduce a new law that will see revenge porn being made illegal.
The new law which would see offenders being punished, has come after the Labour party submitted a motion calling for a change that would update Irish laws to align with 21st century technology.
The party also say they are looking to strengthen Ireland’s criminal laws on harassment, which is becoming a serious issue.
Speaking about the new legislation Party leader Brendan Howlin said the proposals would prevent the sharing of intimate pictures without someone’s permission.
Mr Howlin told reporters: “There have been instances of this where long term intimate relationships suddenly when that breaks up, become the subject of real harm and harrassment, ridicule and hurt and that would be outlawed in the proposals I have outlined.”
