Ireland to get 99k more Covid-19 vaccines after EU and AstraZeneca reach an agreement




The Republic of Ireland is in line to receive 99,000 more AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines.

It is understood that Ireland will receive the share after the company agreed to supply the European Union with 9 million more vaccines in the first quarter of this year.

The news was confirmed by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen who made an announcement on Twitter.

In a tweet con der Leyen said: Step forward on vaccines. @AstraZeneca will deliver 9 million additional doses in the first quarter (40 million in total) compared to last week’s offer & will start deliveries one week earlier than scheduled. The company will also expand its manufacturing capacity in Europe.
