Ireland to join bid with England, Scotland and Wales to host Euros 2028

It has been announced that the FAI and IFA will join England, Scotland and Wales to try and win the right to host Euro 2028.

According to RTE, the five associations had researched the possibility of hosting the World Cup but it looked like that a bid from Spain/Portugal for the 2030 World Cup could likely be successful and so it was decided to try for the Euros instead.

It has still to be decided whether there will be 24 or 32 teams taking part and a number of other things are still unknown, including how many venues will be required.  Croke Park and the Aviva Stadium are certainly under consideration for the bid.
