A 15-yr-old Irish teenager has been detained on suspicion of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old fellow tourist at a Spanish vacation destination, reports The Mirror.
Hours after the reported sex attack, the child was taken into custody in Salou, a Costa Dorada resort located south of Tarragona.
After going before a court, he was already sent under remand to a youth prison facility while a criminal investigation was still proceeding.
Detectives are reported to have located him at the unidentified hotel in Salou where he was staying after receiving a description of the suspect from his purported victim, reports The Mirror.
As word of the imprisonment spread, the local Mossos d’Esquadra police unit confirmed the arrest today.
A spokesman for the force said: “I can confirm a minor has been arrested on suspicion of a sexual assault in Salou. I am not in a position to offer any more information given the fact the suspect is a minor,” reports The Mirror.
