Irish Water vehicles damaged in arson attack in Waterford.

Gardai in Waterford are currently holding an investigation into an arson attack which caused €100,000 worth of damage to three vehicles belonging to Irish Water.

What is not known is whether the arsonists poured petrol on the vehicles or used petrol bombs.

The incident occurred at a compound outside the city and it is believed petrol was used into the attack.

Waterford Fire Service came to the scene after 11pm when the authorities were alerted to the fire.

A grab-lorry and two mini diggers were damaged in the incident and the scene has been sealed off for examination.

The yard is located on the edge of the city, near the Cork road and is used by GMC Sierra, used by contractors who install the water meters.
