Irish Water has said that a hosepipe ban is looking increasingly likely due to the prolonged dry weather conditions.
In a statement the utility said that a 20% increase in demand in water supplies has occurred in recent weeks.
Although no official decision has been made, Irish Water say its increasingly likely that a hosepipe ban will occur especially given the need for water supplies during the Covid-19 pandemic.
They added that the safeguarding of water supplies is important given that personal hygiene protocols are of the upmost importance at this time.
