Ireland’s daytime highs might drop as low as a freezing 2C in the upcoming days, as Met Eireann issues a warning about deteriorating weather, reports The Mirror.
This comes after a violent weekend that saw gale-force winds and torrential rain in some regions of the nation. Numerous weather warnings were issued, including second-highest level Status Orange alerts, and the most recent prediction indicates that awful conditions are expected to persist.
This week will start off “mostly dry and settled,” according to the national forecaster, but as the weekend draws near, more “unsettled” weather is predicted. The whole week will have “cooler than average” temperatures, it added.
It said: “The pressure pattern signal over Ireland is mixed for this week. High pressure to the northwest will likely lead to cooler than average conditions for the week, with lower than average precipitation amounts for the north and west of the country. Parts of the east and southeast however may see precipitation amounts trending above average for early October,” reports The Mirror.

Some weather maps, such as those from Netweather.tv, predict daytime temperatures may even fall to 2C; their models currently show this low temperature at noon on Sunday, October 7. Met Eireann has forecast daytime temperatures in the low teens and temperatures after dark dropping as low as 4C.
“Tuesday will be largely dry with plenty of sunshine and just a few isolated light showers. Top temperatures will range from 13C to 16C in moderate northerly winds. It will be dry with mostly clear skies on Tuesday night. Lowest temperatures of 4C to 8C generally but a little milder on the east coast with moderate northeast breezes,” reports The Mirror.
“Another bright and mostly dry day on Wednesday with lots of sunshine and just scattered cloud. Highest temperatures of 13C to 16C in moderate easterly winds. Dry and mostly clear on Wednesday night. Lowest temperatures generally ranging from 6C to 9C with light easterly breezes,” reports The Mirror.
