ISIS bride Shamima Begum could face death by hanging if she is deported to Bangladesh

ISIS bride Shamima Begum could potentially face the death penalty if she is sent to Bangladesh.

According to ITV News, Ms Begum who fled to Syria when she was just 15, could face death by hanging of she is deported there.

Speaking to the British broadcaster, Bangladesh Foreign Minister Abdul Momen, said Ms Begum would automatically face the death penalty as the country’s laws state that anyone involved with terrorism face capital punishment.

Momen also told the broadcaster that his country want nothing to do with Ms Begum as she is a British citizen, but if she were to arrive in Bangladesh she would immediately be put in prison before facing a public execution.

Ms Begum has been the subject of debate between the two countries after she recently revealed that she wanted to return to the UK.

However despite the British Government revoking her citizenship, a potential case could arise as it is illegal to leave a person stateless under international law.
