Ireland’s Chief Medical Officer is determined to make his voice heard over Christmas and is demanding that people cut back on all their social contacts immediately in an effort to stop the spread of the Omicron variant.
Irish health authorities have reported just over 10,400 new coronavirus cases over the past 24h.
Official figures say that there have been 10,404 new infections confirmed in that period of time.
There currently are 426 people in hospital with severe Covid-19-related disease in Irish hospitals today. It is unclear how many of these are fully vaccinated.
