Italian political party leader and European Parliament member Matteo Salvini, who also happens to be favourite to be the next Prime Minister of Italy, has recently been outspoken in his criticism of the EU.
In an interview with Italian TV Channel Rete 4, in relation to the EU, the frontrunner runner emphatically stated that “Europe can go f*ck itself”.
Salvini has joined his political party Lega Nord with the two-other leading right wing parties in Italy and this coalition is most likely to form a government in the country following the March 4th elections.
He has fiercely condemned, the Brussels led block, for its interference in Italian democracy, imposing a technocratic government on the country during the financial crisis and abandoning it to deal with the catastrophic migrant crisis streaming across the Mediterranean.
The potential Prime Minister has stated that he will regain Italian sovereignty from the EU and echoing U.S President Donald Trump has stated he will work solely in the national interest of his country.
