“It’s a loophole” – People query how McDonald’s restaurants re-opens in Moscow under new management

Many people are saying that McDonald’s are playing on both sides of the fence in Russia after they start to reopen under new management.

Following its closing in Russia when the war with Ukraine broke out, McDonald’s restaurants have opened up in Moscow again.

Now owned by Russians, they have been given a new name: “Vkusno & Tochka”, which means “Tasty and that’s it”.  The plan is to open 15 rebranded restaurants in and near Moscow, with 200 being opened in Russia by the end of June and 850 by the end of the summer.

The restaurants closed at the outbreak of the war with Ukraine, bringing an end to the presence of McDonalds in the country after its popular arrival in 1990 when so many people turned up on the opening day that the restaurant had to remain open for hours after its closing time.
